More about this book:

Forensic engineering text helps reconstruct bicycle accidents

"I wrote BICYCLE ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION FOR THE FORENSIC ENGINEER to fulfill the need to bring engineering scrutiny to the reconstruction of bicycle accidents," says engineer James M. Green of Asheville, North Carolina.

BICYCLE ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION is divided into sections dealing with the engineering kinetics of bicycle accidents, reaction times, and civil engineering issues such as bicycle conspicuousness and the impact of metallurgy of bicycle frames on reconstruction.

By using the principles in this book, the practicing Professional Engineer should be able to reconstruct bicycle accidents with a high degree of Engineering and scientific certainty.

"I wrote this book to aid in bringing the principles of engineering and science:into determining the causal factors of bicycle accidents," says Green,

"I'd like engineers to use the principles in this book to define the reasons bicycle accidents occur and to provide that information to the engineering and cycling community in order to make cycling a safer mode of transportation. B.ICYCLE ACCIDENT RECONSTRUCTION is the only existing text on this subject."

James M. Green is a professional engineer who has been racing bicycles and in triathlons for over 30 years. His firm has a laboratory where testing is accomplished for the reconstruction of bicycle accidents. Jim is a Fellow in the American Society of Civil Engineers and the National Academy of Forensic Engineers. He is a diplomate in the American Academy of Environmental Engineers, and a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He sits on several technical committees dealing with bicycle safety and standards.
